Ever feel like taking a vacation or traveling to some exotic destination, sounds nice doesn't it! Well how about traveling to your destination from the comfort of you own home. With Virtual Reality the possibilities could be limitless. There are many aspects of Virtual Reality I will write about in the future, however this post is specifically about The Simulation Paradigm.
When I think of Virtual Reality I imagine a world where a computer can be given a goal along with a set of parameters such as a specific virtual environment. For example, imagine actually being able to simulate a human along with all of the persons biological functions and test the effectiveness of certain treatments and drugs. Imagine a Super Intelligent Computer System expanding its own knowledge through simulated tests and scenarios.
What implications can Simulation and Virtual Reality have in industry?
The result of Virtual Reality and Simulation could lead to a vast data pool available to the user. Computers could possibly run millions of tests simultaneously and display accurate statistical models. Industry would be able to make greater advancements in a shorter amount of time.
Artificial Intelligence and Simulation
Artificial Intelligence is said to eclipse Human Intelligence by the turn of this century. If us humans could possibly make greater advancements with simulation, what does that mean for Artificial Intelligence? With the massive amount of data computers will be able to interpret and understand it will be no surprise if computers could be mankind's greatest inventors. Imagine simulations running 24/7 until a desired result is obtained. Imagine telling a Super Intelligent System to design a prototype for a flying car, more effective cancer treatments, a spaceship, the likelihood of getting a response on tinder("insert your own simulation here and say it out loud").
The amount of possible simulation scenarios are limitless, and the more simulation is used the more data will be available. With more data comes greater knowledge, simulation could possibly propel mankind to discoveries and innovations that could only be imagined.
Unfortunately/Fortunately we are at the base of that mountain.
